Buses on Upolu and Savaii are plentiful, cheap, and an experience and lasting memory for the visitor. Buses are named with their destination area or village. To ensure you catch the correct bus, ask the driver and they will advise which bus you need.

The main bus terminal in Apia is located near the food market in Fugalei.
On Savaii, the bus terminal can be found at the market in Salelologa.

For a list of fares, and for a copy of a bus shedule, please contact the Samoa Tourism Authority.

Handy tips: Fares are paid to the driver when you alight. It is advisable to have the correct fare, or use small notes or change. Standing is not allowed on the bus.

There are several rental car companies throughout Samoa, the major locations being Apia, Faleolo International Airport, and Salelologa on Savaii. Enquire at your hotel, or visit the Samoa Tourism Authority's kiosk at the airport for information on rental car companies.

By law, it is required that your licence is endorsed by the Transport Control Board prior to collecting your rental vehicle. The Transport Control Board is located in Vaitele (close to Apia) and will validate your licence for a small fee. Just ask the Rental company for assistance with this regard.
