National Standards Samoa

We were established in 2018 as the National Standards Body for Samoa and are specialists in the development and adoption of internationally-harmonised standards in Samoa.

As the recognised National Standards Body entrusted to administer the Samoan standardisation program, we facilitate the development of national standards based on the needs of industry, community and government.

We collaborate with key stakeholders from industry, community and government to;

• Identify and develop new national standards to support; industry development & innervation and social, safety, health and environmental initiatives.
• Publish Samoan national standards
• Represent Samoa at regional and international forums

While we develop national standards, we are not responsible for enforcing, regulating or certifying compliance with those standards

Standards are a set of specifications or procedures that are designed to enhance market acceptance, innovation and quality of the materials, methods, and/or services that people use every day. They aim to facilitate interoperability and support consumer safety, public health and environmental sustainability.

Standards are established to meet the societal and market needs of the nation and should not be developed to act as barriers to trade. Therefore National Standards Samoan implements the globally accepted principles of; transparency, openness, impartiality & consensus, effectiveness & relevance, and coherence in the development of Samoan national standards.
